Why meghalaya receives lot of rainfall in rainy season?

Explanation:

the relief feature gives this place a funnel shaped location. the bay of bengal branch of monsoon is trapped in this hills. this winds try to get out of it.these are forced to rise again and again resulting in heavy rainfall.

Mawsynram , in Meghalaya is on the windward side of Garo, Khasi and Jantia hills. It receives rain from the South West Monsoon winds which has its path from the Bay of Bengal. Hence it receives the highest rainfall in the world.
