Heyy...hope it helps you.....

Answer:

Mitosis is called equation division because number of chromosomes remain equal before and after division. But if parent cell is diploid then the resultant daughter cells will also be diploid.

While meiosis consists of 2 processes :

•Meiosis 1 : its reduction division as number of chromosomes are reduced to half. The resultant cells are called haploid cells.

•Meiosis 2 : its equation division of the haploid cells produced after meiosis 1. The resultant cells are haploid.

Explanation:

Mitosis is process in which we convert diploid cells into haploid due to conversion of gametophyte to sporophyte.

2n=4n

hence it is called equivalent division.

Meiosis is the process in which haploid spore is formed in the zygote which is dilpoid.

hence it is called reductional division.
