Mendel selected garden pea for his experiment for  following reasons :-

The life span of this plant is very short so  results can be obtained and studied faster.

Garden pea had many characteristics which  are in constant to each other.

Moreover this plant is small, easy to grow and  reproduce large number of offsprings.
