Mendel choose only pea plant for his experiment due to following reasons:
1. Many varieties were available in alternative form of character
2. Variations were available in pure form that bred true
3. Peas were normally self polluted but self pollination can be prevented by removing corresponding reproductive parts of the following so could be cross pollinated also.
