I know this I studied this in 7th or 8th idk I will tell you all I know.
1. because it does not stick to the glass. if use water it does stick to the glass.
2. it gives us proper reading.
3. it has high boiling point. therefore accurate reading.
4. it has a colour and not transparent, do we can see at which point it is.
5. only small quantities needed.
This is all I know if i remember more I will write in comments.
