Why mercury is used to make thermometer

Coz it can be easily seen as it is a shining metal and it doesn't sticks 2 the surface of the thermometer thus it gives the exact reading of the temperature of a person's body.

mercury is the only element which is liquid at room temperature, it has the highest coefficient of expansion so it can verify a slightest change in temperature that is why mercury is used in thermometers.
