HERE'S THE ANSWER MATE :-
THE BASIC CHEMICAL REACTION MEANS LOSS IN ELECTRON BY ONE ELEMENT. (. GAIN IN ELECTRON BY ANOTHER)
BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE HERE METALS LOSSES THE ELECTRONS WHEREAS THE HYDROGEN ALSO LOSSES THE ELECTRONS SO THERE MOSTLY CAN'T BE ANY BOND BETWEEN THESE BOTH BUT FEW OF ELEMENTS LIKE Na AND Mg. FORCE THE HYDROGEN TO ACCEPT ELECTRONS..
PLEASE BRAINLIEST THE ANSWER ❗❗☺

Most of the metal do not react with hydrogen because metals form compound by losing electrons and hydrogen also loses the eletrons and forms compounds.so normally hydrogen atom does not accept electrons given by a metal atom to form a compound.
