why metal replace hydrogen from acids, what non metal do not? explain

metals can replace hydrogen from acids because unlike non metals ,metals have tendency to lose electrons. thats why metals which are more reactive than hydrogen(Na,K,Ca,Mg,Al,etc) can reduces hydrogen to H2.
metals like gold ,silver,etc cant replace hydrogen from acid because they are less reactive than hydrogen.
