Why metal surface is chill than wooden surface during winter season?

When a metallic body is touched,being a conductor of heat, the warmer human hand's heat is being taken in by the metal, & we feel cold. In the process the metal gains heat. In case of wood,being a bad conductor,doesn't transfer any heat from hand to wood, & hence we do not feel as being less colder.
