Why metallic oxides are called basic oxide and non metallic oxide are called acidic oxide?

☆ Metallic oxides are basic oxides because when dissolving them in water they forming basics as

Na2O + H2O = 2NaOH

CaO + H2O = Ca(OH)2

☆ Nonmetallic oxides solutions forming acids as,

CO2 + H2O = H2CO3

SO3 + H2O = H2SO4
