Luminous objects are those which emit light on their own like stars, sun, etc... Moon doesn't give off light of its own, that's why the moon is considered a non-luminous body.

we see the moon shinning at the night in the sky but moon is not a luminous body moon is non luminous body the moon received light from the sun. this sunlight aflyer striking the moon reach us on earth.
