Answer:

Firstly, They are not perfectly round, of course, but there is a tendency for them to be nearly spherical rather than some other shape, because of gravitational attraction. A finite number of uniformly distributed particles of the same size would be attracted to each other and tend to coalesce into a spherical lump.

Explanation:

As a matter of fact, none of the heavenly bodies are of the shape of a perfect circle or rather a perfect sphere. There always are minor deformations like bulge at equator and flatness at poles caused by axial roation which along with some other deformities don’t really let the body to be a perfect sphere. But still it has been observed that all bodies try to attain a spherical shape if left undisturbed by any external forces. It is also true for liquid droplets in space. The fact here to know is that of all the 3d geometric shapes of a given volume, a sphere has the least amount of potential energy. The particles that make up matter always seek an arrangement or configuration where they possess the least amount of energy that they can. In order to do so, they always fall in the shap of a sphere which has minimum potential energy due to configuration of particles that make it up. Thus all heavenly bodies are imperfect spheres and so would have been everything else had it not been for any external forces
