Why most houses in Punjab have flat roofs,while most house in Kerala have sloping roofs

in punjab people dont get enough rain the flat roofs r for rainwater harvesting and for the household chores like drying spices which is a regular practise. while in kerala there is rain throughout the year so the slope just slides the water off the roof.
