These are because of the dry winds which reach at that place....see the winds pick up the moisture when moving around the sea or ocean and the water vapour condenses and then we have rainfall...now the desserts are located in the western margins right...which is the end of the subtropic continents...the wind which had carried moisture ,they are left with no moisture when they reach the margin of the subtropics i.e. They have become dry winds until they reach the margin and thus no rainfall...because of no rainfall or we can say less rainfall that particular area remains as a dessert area..thus,most of the desserts are located in.
