The term originally denoted being "carefree", " cheerful", or "bright and showy". While scant usage referring to male homosexuality

Answer:

My personal opinion about this topic :

Well, I think people think being gay is a crime. As an child, we are always told to be in a relationship with opposite sex and usually it is fixed in our mind that being attracted to same gender is not so good thing. Most of the people also think that gay and transgender are same things. So they think they don't deserve to be respect. Though we should also respect transgender as they are not different. But I am not coming on this topic as it's not the main focus though it's a major topic. In conclusion, people think being gay is not a part of the society and whatsoever. But most importantly, being gay is not what you should be ashamed of but should be proud of, no matter what people think or say. Be proud of who you are.
