Mrs. Packletide was 'pardonably annoyed' at the discovery that a goat had been shot instead of the tiger. However, she was glad to become the proud possessor of a dead tiger. She knew that the tiger had died of a heart attack and it was dead. That is all that mattered to her. However, she was worried for people knowing about the diverted truth and thus, paid enough money to Mebbin to keep the case under cover.

Mrs. Packletide was annoyed with the fact that she shot a tiger because she wanted to shoot the tiger to show off the tiger in front of loona bimberton so that she could also be as famous as loona bimberton. When she shot a tiger her paid companion Miss Mebbin was present at that moment she blackmailed Mrs. Packletide that she will shut her mouth if she could give her the cottage or else she will tell everyone about the incident that happened.
