In a unicellular organism, the cellular arrangement is too primitive and hence they use simple ways of reproduction such as fission and fragmentation to produce new copies of themselves. Whereas, in multicellular organisms, it would be too impractical for it to just use simple modes of reproduction and split into new copies since cells are organised into tissues, specialised tissues are organised into organs and these organs are placed in definite places in the body. Hence, in such a carefully organised situation, it is to be understood that multicellular organisms need complex ways to reproduce.
