why n hexane has higher melting point than n pentane

beacause the molecular massof hexane is larger than pentane and melting and boiling point are directly proportional to the molecular mass .

Assuming that by hexane you mean n-hexane I'll say that n-hexane has a greater boiling point than n-pentane. This is because of greater surface area of n-hexane than n-pentane
