The nitrogen atom is very small in size, therefore the bond length is also quite small (109.8 pm)and as a result the bond dissociation energy is quite high ( 946 Kj/mol ) this reason leads N2 to be very less reactive at room temperature..

Answer:

The two N atoms in N2 are bonded to each other by very strong triple covalent bonds.

The bond dissociation energy of this bond is very high.

As a result, N2 is less reactive at room temperature.
