The heat from flame causes the nitrous oxide to decompose into oxygen and nitrogen,which supports combustion more vigorously than air.

On combustion, N2O decomposes to form Nitrogen and Oxygen where the percentage of oxygen is 36%-37% which is more than that present in air (21%). Thus, it supports combustion more vigorously.
