why Na+is oxidizing agent and Na is reducing Agent

Na+is an oxidising agent as it has 10 electrons but 11 protons thus it can accept 1 more electron to become neutrally charged

while Na is a reducing agent as it has 1 valence electron which it can lose to become a cation and attain stable electronic configuration
