NaCl, Sodium Chloride or commonly, Table Salt is a bad conductor of electricity in its solid forms. This is because like other salts, NaCl is also an ionic compound. Ionic compounds cannot conduct electricity in the solid form, due to their rigid structure as well as their lack of free electrons. This is why NaCl is a bad conductor of electricity.
It would however conduct electricity in a solution or molten state due to the breakage of the weak bond to form free but charged ions.
