Why nacl is ionic compound

NaCl is made By sodium(Na) and clorine(Cl) as sodium is a metal so it donate electron and form positive ion.and clorine accept electron and form negative ion. so Na and Cl are opposite charged paricle when 1 extra electron is donated by Na it can be taken by Cl then both become inert so they form ionic compound
