NaCl is ionic compound due to this it breaks sodium ion and chlorine ion and soluble water.. While C2H6 is a covalent compound.. Its does not break in this form

NaCl is formed by ionic bond. Ionic bonds soluble in water. But C2H6 is formed by covalent bond & covalent bonds are insoluble in wayer. It is depend upon their bonding. I hope you can understand it.
