why NaCl is soluble in water but not CuCl

In solution chemistry we have a rule "like dissolvess like ",which simply means that a polar compound like NaCl is soluable in polar solvent like water.And a non polar compound like CuCl is soluable in a non polar solvent like ccl4

Nacl is an ionic compound which has sufficient hydration energy to overcome the lattice energy of crystal Nacl to make a dipole interaction with the water bonds and oppositely charged ions makes a great interaction to create the bond.


on the other hand cucl is a convalent compound which can not overcome the lattice energy because of te greater polarization of cu+ ions as a result it can not dissolve in water....
