NaCl is an ionic molecule.ther exists electronegativity difference between Na and Cl which gives polarity to the molecule. Thus NaCl is a polar molecule.Generally polar molecules will be soluble in polar solvents and insoluble in non polar solvents. As NaCl is a polar molecule it is soluble in polar solvent that is water and insoluble in non polar solvent that is kerosene

They are soluble in polar solvents like water andexist as cation and anion in solution state. The solubility increases with decrease in magnitude of charge, increase in size of ion and increase in polarity of solvent. Hence, NaCl, an ionic compound, is soluble in water, a polar solvent and not in kerosene.
