Diseases carried by mosquitoes can be fatal. Some trees have poisons in their bark that cause extreme rashes that can become infected resulting in death. There are also frog species that are poisonous if eaten. Then there's the many species of venomous snakes found there. But the single large animal that would be the most dangerous to encounter would be the jaguar.
