Why nichrome is used as a heating element in electrical devices?

Any material which is used as heating element must possess following characters :
It has high resistance. A object with high resistance produces more heat.
It must have high melting point so that iy does not melt when a lot of heat is produced.
As nichrome possesses these characteristics, so it is used as heating element in electrical devices.
