to keep it short and simple...
These two boys, Nicola and Jacopo are called exceptions because they did all sort of Work that was beyond their ages...These boys being of the ages 12&13 used to do work that no one actually expects a 13 year old to do.....also whatever work they did was for the well-being of their sister with all sincerity the responsibility!!
so by looking at these example I suppose these boys were really exceptions as no one of there age is keen to do all this infact children of their age tend to play and are not serious...
