We know, the Reactions which occurs in the plants during the time of the photosynthesis are divided into two categories,
1. Light Reaction
This phase of the Reaction is dependent upon the light and hence occurs only in the Presence of the light only.
2. Dark (or Night) Reaction.
This phase of the Photosynthetic Reaction is independent of the light. During this reaction, there is no involvement of the light but it does not means that this reaction occurs in the night time or dark time.
This Reaction occurs simultaneously after the light reaction but not on the night time since at the night time there is no light reaction too then how the Dark reaction can occurs?.
Hence, calling the Night Reaction is the misnomer, since it does not occurs on the night time.
We can use the Scientific terms for it namely Bio synthetic Phase.

The night reaction in plant is called as misnomer because it does not depend directly on light and also it also never depends on energy moiety like adenotriphospate molecule NADPH( Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate). Hence misnomer reaction in plant is light independent reaction.
The night reaction occurs after the light reaction. The light reaction does not occur during night time and hence, the dark reaction can never takes place in night time.
