Why nitration is not sufficient for the conversion of propene to 1-nitropropane

Explanation:

  • the nitration of alekne is not an addition rxn in which H and no2 is added to double bonded carbon carbon atom of an alkene the rxn does not add no2 directly but through substitution of Be atom from alkyl bromide so we have to convert alkene to alkyl bromide then nitration by substitution
