why nitrogen has higher I.E value than oxygen

as we know atomic number of N and O are 7 and 8 respectively if we see how electron are filled in orbitals
we see that the last orbitals is having more symmetry than that of last orbitals of oxygen so it is harder that N will lose/gain electron and easier to lose/gain therefore the I.E of N is high.
