Why nitrogen is inert at room temperature whereas phosphorus can burst into flame

phosphrous burst into flame when exposed to air...a spontaneos reaction to form oxidation products

phosphorous can burst into flame because of the high reactivity of it than nitrogen.It forms oxidising products.
