Why nitrogen nitrogen single bond is weaker than phosphorus phosphorus single bond?

Due to the small size of nitrogen nitrogen is surrounded by lone pair and due to lone pair replusion N-N break easily whereas phosphorus size is large as compared to nitrogen so LP LP repulsion is less . Hence it has a strong single bond as compares to nitrogen
