why no gas is released when sulphur is added to dil HCL

HCl stands for Hydrochloric acid. As the name suggeasts it contains Chloride. However, Sulphur is more reactive than Chlorine. Hence, Chlorine is unable to replace Sulphur. As a result no gas is formed.
