The full valence electron shells of these atoms make noble gases extremely stable and unlikely to form chemical bonds because they have little tendency to gain or lose electrons. Although noble gas di not normally react with other elements to form compounds, there are some exceptions.

Reaction takes place in any elements only if they do not have sufficient no of electrons in their outemost shell according to the formula 2n^2 .
But Noble gases have all their shells filled with sufficient no of electrons.
