Because non metals are less reactive than hydrogen

Answer: BECAUSE NONMETALS ARE ANIONS AND IN THE ACID THERE IS AN ANION ALSO EXCEPT THE HYDROGEN BUT SAME (NEGATIVE) IONS REPEL EACH OTHER.

O2 + H2SO4 ------> IF HYDROGEN IS REPLACED BY OXYGEN THEN THERE WILL BE BOTH ANION IN THE COMPOUND WHICH REPEL EACH OTHER AND HENCE A NON METAL DOES NOT DISPLACE HYDROGEN FROM AN ACID.
