why north south extent are larger than the east west extent even though the longitudinal and latitudinal extent of same degree

While latitudinal distance gives north south expanse, it is longitudinal distance which account for east west strech. As longitudes narrowed down towards pole where as latitude keep constancy in their difference around the globe, that's why while difference of both streches is same in degree yet north south expanse is more actually.

Answer: This is because the distance between two latitudes is always 111km i.e always same whereas between two longitudes,it is the maximum at the equator and decreases towards the poles....
