Why northeasterns states are more prone to earthquake than other states?

According to the reports, tremors were also felt in certain parts of northeastIndia. Other states that felt the tremors were Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Guwahati falls in zone five of the seismic zones in India which is highly prone to earthquakes.
