As we know that India was a part of Gondwana land , In Mesozoic era Indian continent separated from gondwana traveled towards north and collide with Eurasian Plate. During the course of the journey, when Indian continent was at south of equator, volcanic activity took place and basaltic lava poured on the Indian subcontinent, resultant formation of Deccan Platue. Thus arrival ranges is oldest.  when the Indian continent collide with Eurasian plate, Indian plate sub duct  into Eurasian plate, resultant the formation of Himalaya .  Thus Himalaya is younger and Aravli and southern part are older, more stable than northern part. There are no fault in southern part hence no earthquake.

I explained  from Indian history it's might be longer for you, but you may write short answer.

If you know further information just let me know. thanks !!
