Why northern plains is known as food bowl of India

The northern plains are called the food bowl of India because it is drained by river Ganga as a result it is very fertile.therefore the states in this region produce huge quantity of stable crops like rice etc.

as northern plains are productive lands which provide food to the people. As the land has large amount of silt present ,so ,it is fertile and produces more food grains. hence northern plains are known as food bowl of India.
