why northern plains of India have continental type of climate???

Northern plains are situated interior of the continent i.e, far away from the sea or oceans . Therefore , they are not influenced by land or sea breeze leading to continental or extreme type of climate.

The northern plains are far away from the moderating influence of sea breeze and land breeze .
Therefore the annual range of temperature is very high in the Indian subcontinent and so they experience a  Continental type of climate
