Why nostoc is considered as first colonizer of moist soil?

Nostoc is found everywhere in nature... Since they are widespread they are thought to be first colonizer but one of main reason is they are first colonizer of the moist soil in nitrogen fixation. Hence nostoc is said that first colonizer on earth
