The two magnetic field lines do not intersect each other because if they do it means at the point of intersect the compass needle is showing two different directions which is not possible.

See let us think two magnetic field lines intersect each other.
Now imagine placing a compass needle at that point it will point in two directions. This is not possible as the compass has to and has to point in only one direction to show the effect of a magnet. If magnetic field lines were to overlap each other there would be no neutral points.
Note: neutral points are created due to cancelling force of two magnets. At this point the net resultant magnetic force is zero.
