Why nothern parts of india have more floods than southern??

as you may know that the northern side of India is known as northern plains. most of the himalayan rivers drain in East or west oceans moving through these plains which is why they are known as perrenial rivers . when rains come these rivers still have water which is why accommodation for more is just not possible thereby leading to flood

Floods are more common in india because
1)Water bodies specially fresh water is more or is in abundant in north india ex. Ganga, yamuna etc.
2)As north india lies below or in the foothills of himalayas, this sometimes leads to melting of these mountains and glaciers.
