Nuclear energy is unique. If you do not recycle the spent fuel or do not use a breeder reactor, it becomes a non-renewable source of energy and conventional, but if you recycle spent fuel or better still use a breeder reactor, it produces more fuel than it consumes while also producing energy.

In that case it becomes renewable source of energy, hence non-conventional. ... Though nuclear is a recent discovered source but it is being used to generate electricity which makes it a conventional source of energy.
