Why nucleophilic substitution reactions not very common in phenols?

Answer: Nucleophilic substitution reactions not very common in phenols because phenols are resonance stablized by which it requires high energy and high temperature to perform nucleophilic substitution reaction. It also have elctron clouds surrounding it which opposes and upcoming nucleufile to attack in phenol.
