why nucleus is called autonomous body

Mitochondria itself has its own DNA so it also produce some proteins but still it depends on the Nucleus DNA for some other important proteins to carry out its functions.. as it can replicate independently it is autonomous but still depends on the nucleus DNA SO called as semi autonomous body…

I think mitochondria is called autonomous because the cell organelles which has their on genetic material as DNA
