Why on putting on glass over a lighted candle candle flame flickers and produce smoke

Flame uses oxygen to burn and cannot burn without the supply of oxygen. When you keep a glass over it, oxygen inside it becomes limited and gets used up quickly by the flame, causing it to flicker and produce smoke.

putting glass on lighted candles cuts out the supply of oxygen . Things burn only in the presence of oxygen . As the supply of oxygen is cut down the candle cannot burn long hence candle flame flickers and produce smoke..
