Why only 10 is used as base of power in significant figures?

It is easy to multiply with 10 than any another number. This makes writing of large number simpler. Also, We use decimal number system which uses 10 digits, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Writing with Power of 10 writes the number with exact first digit as that of the no. For example,
412000 = 4.12 \times  {10}^{5}  \\ here \: 4 \: is \: same \: in \: both.
If we want to use power of 2, then see what happens,
2048000 =1000 \times   {2}^{11}
It is much difficult to handle this way. so we use power of 10.
